About the photographer

I opened J Freeman Photography in 2007 when a friend asked me to cover her wedding. What was once a hobby turned into a full-time passion and a commitment to becoming a world-class photographer.

I developed a love of portraiture back in grade school, whether I was photographing with a point-and-shoot camera or sketching in my art classes. There is something so basic and so wonderful about people, and I love to capture personalities and see people as they are. I love to pause time forever. This allows a mother to always remember exactly how her child was at any given age, from newborn through senior portraits, wedding, and on to grandchildren and beyond.

What do I love about weddings? There is an indescribable moment of beauty that occurs when two people who love each other are married. And it is an absolutely breathtaking opportunity to not only be present at the union of two people, but to know that the moments that I capture will be a constant reminder to the couple of their love and devotion; to know that I am creating something that can be passed down through the generations…

As well, and less altruistically, every wedding that I attend reminds me of the deep love that I have for my wife and family. It reminds me of when I stood there and watched the world fade away until there were only two of us. I feel incredibly lucky that I have the opportunity to be a part of such an experience, and that the photographs I take will be part of your cherished memories forever.
